A welcoming environment which not only promotes a cohesive team yet one devoted to continual improvement. As an intern, I was able to experience how the therapists worked with both residential and community based clients in such a seamlessly caring and compassionate manner. Their high standards of professionalism allowed me to progress both academically and professionally.
My name is John Amundson and I was a counseling intern at St. Peter- St. Joseph’s Children’s Home in 2015. Under the guidance of expert counselors, I gained first-hand experience working with children ages 3-17 in both group and individual settings. In addition, I gained experience in case management, treatment planning, and ethical practices. Today, I am working on my Ph.D. at the #1 Play Therapy School in the world, University North Texas, where I plan to specialize in working with traumatized teens.
My internship experience at St. PJ’s was excellent. This organization truly believes in its mission and I was fortunate to be a part of such fulfilling work. I received excellent supervision and was able to work within the organization as a valued member of the team.
