Mission
Providing physical and emotional support and assistance to caregivers expecting a newborn or who have children through three years of age.
Purpose
The Family First Parenting Program provides material assistance, counseling, referrals, classes/parenting education, and other resources to strengthen families.
Eligibility is for men and women who:
- are expecting a child;
- biological father of an unborn child;
- biological parent of a child that is 36 months of age;
- parent or legal guardian of a pregnant minor who is a program client;
- approved adoptive parent of an unborn child;
- an adoptive parent of a child who is 36 months of age or younger;
- a legal guardian or Adult Caregiver* of a child who is 36 months of age or younger;
- a former participant who has experienced the loss of a child; or
- are a parent who experienced a miscarriage or loss of a child not more than 90 days before the parent begins participation in the services offered through the program.
Eligible parents do not need a connection or prior engagement with St. PJ’s Children’s Home to take part in the program. Community members are welcome.
* “Adult caregiver” means an adult person whom a parent has authorized to provide temporary care for a child.
How Much Does It Cost?
All services are free of charge.
Services provided include:
- Material Assistance: Baby clothing, diapers, wipes, toiletries, and formula
- Counseling: Therapeutic services for processing issues, concerns, emotional difficulties related to the stress of pregnancy and parenting
- Referrals: Assistance in connecting with various parenting, healthcare, insurance, housing, financial assistance, employment, and education resources
- Parenting Education Classes: Guidance on various parenting support topics
- Case Management, CPR/first aid certification available
