Therapist and Case Manager
Provide therapy to those who can benefit from St. PJ’s Mission Statement, Clinical staff participation and Center administration and development. Key Responsibilities: Case Management: Provide long-term case management services to youth in the program. Ensure all children’s records including medical and educational files are current with appropriate documentation such as admission and diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, therapy notes, plans of service/review, exam notes and reports, court records, etc. Attends ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings, parent/teach conferences, court hearings, etc. Provide on-call coverage, as assigned by Supervisors Therapy: Provide the agreed upon number of clinical hours. Provide individual therapy and group therapy, as needed. Represent the standards and practices of therapeutic counseling. Maintain clinical records in keeping with Agency policies and procedures. Work with administrative staff to set and collect appropriate fees. Clinical Staff Participation: Work cooperatively on treatment team with Case Manager, Case Worker, House Parents, Psychiatrist, and respective School Personnel. Work cooperatively with staff colleagues, consultants, and referring Professionals Actively participate in clinical staffings and case consultations. Attend administrative staff meetings, staff retreats, and other team building activities. Center Administrative and Development: Participate in the development of the Agency’s referral network. Perform administrative and development tasks as assigned. Participate in the Agency’s training programs of education, consultation, and community relations. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is required. Clinical training and experience, validated by certification or licensure by the groups corresponding to their fields, and/or full state licensure in psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, counseling or medicine. The Education Specialist is responsible for providing social and educational development to the residents at St. PJ’s (St. PJ’s) for the purpose of helping lay the foundation for healthy development and a sound education. Key Responsibilities: The Education Specialist instructs and provides educational support for youth in the Valero Adolescent Emergency Shelter (VES). The Education Specialist also prepares youth for transition to the public school system by incorporating the following into the learning environment: Supervise youth not in school during normal school hours ensuring homework and lessons are complete. Establish and maintain a consistent daily routine; establishing a mutual trusting and respectful relationship with youth, using praise and encouragement for positive behavior; challenging each child through innovative techniques to achieve their maximum potential; providing support and affection for a child when necessary; Establish effective advocacy for the VES youth of St. PJ’s during Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) hearings. Provide on-going support of each child as they prepare for school attendance and achievement with internal staff of St. PJ’s including house parents, case workers, administrative staff, and board members. Establish the practice of consulting an Education Committee to provide guidance and support to the Director of Program Services Support ongoing relationship between San Antonio Independent School District and St. PJ’s in terms of the Texas Education Agency requirements in the areas of home-school partnerships, transportation logistics, and special education compliance. Coordinate support for college bound and Transitional Living Program (TLP) clients of St. PJ’s, ensuring that college admissions paper work and processes are accurate and complete including documents for Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA), university admission, scholarships, and transportation to college and university campuses. The Educational Specialist must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or other related Degree. Experience in curriculum development and working with school age youth is required. Additionally, experience with abused/neglected youth and their families and/or experience in residential child care, separation, attachment and permanency issues is preferred. The Emergency Shelter Manager responsibilities are equally split between providing direction/oversight for the shelter and providing therapy services for the clients therein. Daily operation of the shelter includes screening, interviewing, supervision and evaluation of the direct care staff. The Emergency Shelter Manager serves as primary liaison between the Emergency Shelter, Texas Department of Family Protective Services (TDFPS) and other community agencies. The Emergency Shelter Manager ensures all licensing standards and timelines are met. The Emergency Shelter Manager will also provide psychotherapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups in accordance with the mission of St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home, participates in clinical consultations and other administrative duties, and contributes to the Counseling Center’s programs of clinical training and staff development.
Requirements: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). A minimum of three years of experience in residential childcare, basic knowledge of child development and personal characteristics that contribute to effective relationships between children and adults. Minimum of two years experience in staff supervision is a requirement. Licensed Child Care Administrator (LCCA) preferred, if not active will require license within one year.
